New, powerful V6 engine set for 2018 Toyota Camry

2018 Toyota Camry XSE V6 horsepower

The Toyota Camry is back for the 2018 model year, this time with a radically new look and capabilities. Toyota’s popular sedan received a full redesign and has a 1.9-inch wider wheelbase and bolder, more athletic styling. Best of all, it’s equipped with new, more powerful engine options for the base-level LE in addition to the premium XSE trim. Here’s a closer look at what you can expect from the new 2018 Toyota Camry.

2018 Toyota Camry engine specs

Under the hood the 2018 Toyota Camry boasts either a new 200-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder or an optional 296-hp, 3.5-liter V-6. Both engine options will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission – a brand new addition to the Camry lineup. We suspect that the more powerful V6 will be available on the highest 2018 Toyota Camry trim levels, including the SE and XSE.

Car shoppers will be able to choose from LE, XLE, SE and XSE trim levels. The Toyota Camry Hybrid will also be available for 2018 and is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with a next-generation version of the Toyota Hybrid System. This year it’s equipped with a Sport mode that simulates the shift of a six-speed automatic transmission.
