While the automotive aisles at your local superstore are likely filled with countless sweet-smelling air fresheners, some drivers would like to keep things a little more natural and chemical-free. To help, we have included three easy ways to keep cars smelling fresh naturally below.
3 Easy Ways To Keep Your Car Smelling Fresh Naturally
Essential oils are everywhere right now and if you are concerned about eliminating chemicals from your air they are a great alternative to traditional car fresheners. Put a few drops of your favorite essential oil blend on something absorbent and stick it in your vehicle for all-day freshness. We like to put a few drops on a wooden clothespin and then clip it on to our air vents to help circulate the smell throughout the vehicle.
Baking soda is a natural odor eliminator. If things in your car are getting a little smelly, try filling a jar with baking soda and letting it sit in your car overnight to trap the odors. You can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oil into the baking soda container to add even more odor eliminating power. Baking soda is also a great option for getting rid of odors that are trapped in your upholstery. Use a stiff brush to scrub the baking soda into your upholstery and let it sit for an hour before vacuuming it up and it should help to remove smells that are trapped from kids and pets.
If you don’t have any essential oils, there are a variety of other natural items you can put in your car to keep everything smelling great. One of our personal favorites is coffee beans. Put them in a jar with a few holes poked in the top and store them under a seat or in an empty cupholder and they will fill your entire car with the scent of coffee for weeks to come.
