Voice services are becoming more popular by the minute as new functionalities and systems are developed. However, until now, users could only use select voice services from the comfort of home. A new announcement from Toyota is about to change all that. Toyota has partnered with Amazon and their Alexa system to bring voice services to select 2018 Toyota models with the Entune 3.0 infotainment system creating a platform for drivers to manage everything from smart home accessories, Podcasts, and grocery lists from the open road.

Toyota will be doing a small rollout of this feature and not all new 2018 models will be eligible. We do not currently have details about which Toyota models will feature Alexa, but we do know it will be limited to models equipped with Entune 3.0. Toyota plans to roll out the Alexa feature to even more Toyota vehicles during the 2019 model year. It was also recently announced that the popular Apple CarPlay feature will also be included in select 2019 Toyota models including the Toyota Avalon so Toyota customers have a lot to look forward to.
What can Alexa do?
It may be easier to describe what she can’t do. Alexa can answer questions, play trivia, tell jokes, play audio from connected apps, add items to your grocery list, and even manage connected smart home devices like thermostats. If you have a smart thermostat with the ability to connect with Alexa, you could tell her to turn up the heat in your house so it is toasty warm for your arrival.
