We are not too far away from the official start of the College Football season, but if you’re like us then there is one game in particular that you’re waiting for: the Battle at Bristol between the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech. Whether you’re one of the lucky fans attending this game or watching it on the TV, this historic match looks to be quite the event. The game is fast approaching and will be held on September 10, 2016 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee.
What is the Battle at Bristol?
So what exactly is significant about the Battle at Bristol? This game is expected to have the largest crowd ever gathered to watch a college football game, which totals at approximately 150,000 fans. This would easily beat the current record, which is currently just above 115,000. The Bristol Motor Speedway typically is used for NASCAR events, but the addition of a large four-way video display board that hangs above the center of the stadium.
Kenny Chesney will be performing the night before, and the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Fan Zone and midway will open at 8 a.m. on gameday. Gates are set to open at 4 p.m., an opening ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. and kickoff will be 8:15 p.m.

What can you bring inside the stadium at the Battle at Bristol?
There are some important things to know before attending the Battle at Bristol this year, as it will be a little different than both a usual college game and a NASCAR race. First it is recommended to wear a lanyard with your ticket displayed to make getting through security quicker. Also, unlike NASCAR, you won’t be able to bring a cooler inside of the stadium, but there will be refreshments sold at the event. Bags and purses will also be highly regulated. You can bring in one clear plastic bag that isn’t larger than 18-in wide by 18-in tall and 6-in deep. Small clutch purses (max size 4.5-in by 6.6 in) are also allowed.
